Longtime owner Bob Billings passed away recently in Florida. He was 77. A previously New York City-based entrepreneur, Billings had been involved in racing since 1980. His most notable runner was Victor's Cry (Street Cry {Ire}), who he campaigned with his wife Michele as Equilete Stable. A $150,000 Fasig-Tipton July yearling acquisition, Victor's Cry took the GI Shoemaker Mile S. and GII Citation H. at Hollywood Park in 2010 en route to career earnings in excess of $700,000. Trainer Eoin Harty, who conditioned Victor's Cry, has an unraced 2-year-old colt named Victor's Show (Victor's Cry) owned by the Billings'. The Billings' also raced a number of horses whose names began with “Jelly Roll,” including SW and GSP Jelly Roll Jive.
