Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Today's Observations features well-bred newcomers from the stables of Princess Haya and Khalid Abdullah.

11.40 Lingfield, Cond, £4,500, 2yo, 8f (AWT)

CULPABILITY (Blame">Blame) is a half-brother to the G3 Oh So Sharp S. and GIII Beaugay S. winner Waterway Run (Arch) who cost $350,000 at Keeneland September and who sports the Derby-winning silks of Princess Haya of Jordan. John Gosden saddles the bay, who is one of two newcomers in a field of 10.

5.40 Kempton, Cond, £5,000, 2yo, 8f (AWT)

SCOTTISH JIG (Speightstown) debuts for Khalid Abdullah and John Gosden and is a full-sister to the GI Hollywood Derby-winning sire Seek Again out of the GI Yellow Ribbon S. heroine Light Jig (GB) (Danehill). Among her opponents are the similarly-unraced Qayed (Blame">Blame), Abdullah Saeed Al Naboodah's $250,000 David Simcock-trained colt whose dam is a full-sister to Jump Start (A.P. Indy) and Fronsac (GB) (Frankel (GB)">Frankel {GB}), a Gary Middlebrook homebred half-brother to the 2011 G3 Lingfield Derby Trial winner Dordogne (Ire) (Singspiel {Ire}) in the hands of Daniel Kubler.
