Ontario Launches Five Year Plan for Racing Industry

The Canadian province of Ontario has released a five year plan to sustain the horse racing industry there. The plan will provide $400 million over those five years to sustain racing related opportunities, integrate horse racing with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation modernization plan, and restructuring the Ontario Racing Commission into two divisions, one for its existing regulatory function and one for funding. “We know how important the horse racing industry is to communities all across Ontario,” said Kathleen Wynee, Premier and Minister of Agriculture & Food. “Thatís why our government has worked with industry and community representatives to develop a five-year plan that will build on the great traditions of horse racing in this province and attract a new generation of fans to the sport.”
