With the recent retirement of A.P. Indy, columnist Bill Oppenheim focuses this week on the world's top 30 sires since the advent of the 'big-book era' in 1996. While 18 of the top 30 stand in the U.S., it is Galileo who sits on the top line of the table, followed by the Kentucky-based trio of Tapit, Street Cry (Ire) and Giant's Causeway. Of the top 30, 18 stand in Kentucky. Seven stand in Darley Farms in North America or Europe; four at Coolmore farms in N.A. and Europe; four at Lane's End, and three at WinStar.
