DER LU (f, 2, Orb–Taboo, by Forestry), sold for an eye-catching $900,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale, tipped her hand for this debut with a five-furlong gate work in :59 1/5 (1/48) here July 18 and was knocked down to 7-10 by post. Stalking the pace from second through a :22.44 quarter, the chestnut moved three deep in tandem with rail-running Bizwhacks (Fed Biz) past a :45.97 half, started to inch clear just inside the eighth pole and came home a 3 1/4-length victress. Bizwhacks stayed on for the place. The winner's second dam is GISW Dream of Summer (Siberian Summer), the producer of GISW and emerging sire Creative Cause (Giant's Causeway) and MGSW/GISP Destin (Giant's Causeway).
