Stuart Janney III and Phipps Stable’s Orb (Malibu Moon) drilled four furlongs in :48 flat at Payson Park yesterday as he prepares for the GI Besilu Stables Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park Mar. 30. “He worked very, very well,” said trainer Shug McGaughey. “We’re very pleased. He went in company with a maiden named Overwhelming (Hard Spun). They went very easy–in :48 and galloped out in 1:01. It was just perfect.” Orb, who scored his third-straight victory last time in the GII Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth S. Feb. 23, is expected to have a final blow-out drill next Monday before the Florida Derby.
