There was a huge upset in Tuesday's G3 Prix Imprudence at Deauville as Guy Pariente and Satoshi Kobayashi's Showna (Kendargent) emerged strong to land odds of 64-1 with no hint of fluke.
Like the Djebel winner the beneficiary of two starts already in 2026, the winner of a 6 1/2-furlong handicap on the Polytrack here in January was delivered from rear by Marvin Grandin to overwhelm the 6-5 favourite My Highness (Ghaiyyath) in the final half furlong and register a 2 1/2-length success.
There was another 1 3/4 lengths back to the prominently-ridden Isle Of Fernandez (Lope Y Fernandez) in third with the true-run race resulting in the field well strung out. Remarkably, Showna is the second Imprudence winner for her dam Show Gorb (Caradak), the G3 Prix Miesque runner-up whose daughter Showay (Galiway) captured this three years ago at 42-1.
“I didn't expect her to win,” trainer and part-owner Kobayashi admitted. “She had worked well and I thought she was capable of running well and she was 100 per cent for today. She can still improve and we can now think about the Prix Jean Prat. We'll see how she comes out of it and discuss it with the team.”
50/1! 🤯

Pedigree Notes
The winner is currently the last known foal out of the aforementioned Show Gorb, whose family includes the G3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes winner Ashram (Indian Haven). Fifth in this herself in 2013, she enters hallowed territory having produced two winners of one of France's most important Classic trials.
