HAIL (Tapit">Tapit) makes her first start for breeder Juddmonte Farms and Bill Mott. While Mott isn't known for his success with newcomers, he did send out Hail's half-sister Close Hatches (First Defence) to a winning, 'TDN Rising Star'-garnering debut en route to an accomplished career that included an Eclipse Award for champion older mare in 2014. Lockdown, a full to Close Hatches and half to Hail, was second on debut here just over a year ago for these connections, but took her next two including the Busanda S. before eventually finishing third in the GI Kentucky Oaks. Hall of Famer Shug McGaughey saddles the other two Tapits in this strong-looking field in the form of fourth timer Pink Sands, a daughter of Grade I winner Her Smile (Include); and $430K KEESEP yearling Tactical Affair. The later is out of Grade II winner Fencelineneighbor (Wild Rush), making her a full to SW Barbie Wire and half to $875K OBSAPR '17 grad and Del Mar debut scorer Steely Resolve (Candy Ride {Arg}). Possessive (Bernardinispan>, a $42K KEEJAN short yearling, is a half-brother to 'Rising Star' and Grade I-winning juvenile Klimt(Quality Road). TJCIS PPs
