The G1 Juddmonte International S. at York has emerged as a potential target for Royal Ascot hero Permian (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}). The Teofilo colt was supplemented for the G1 Investec Derby after victory in the G2 Dante S. on the Knavesmire in May, and while he disappointed at Epsom, he showed his true colours when landing last week's G2 King Edward VII S. He was immediately ruled out of Saturday's G1 Irish Derby, and with the G1 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown likely to come too soon, trainer Mark Johnston is set to choose between an Ascot return for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth S. on July 29 or the International on Aug. 23.
“He's in the Eclipse a week on Saturday, but that will almost certainly come too quick for him,” said Johnston. “He's in the Juddmonte and the King George and I'd be interested in running him over a stiff mile and a quarter (at York).”
