Treble Group 1 winner Phoenix Reach (Ire) (Alhaarth {Ire}–Carroll's Canyon {Ire}, by Hatim) has moved to his owner Andrew Christou's Winterbeck Manor Stud in Nottingham, where he will stand the 2017 stud season at a fee of £3,500.
Throughout five seasons in training, Phoenix Reach, trained initially by Ian Balding and later by his son Andrew, clocked up plenty of airmiles, with his top-flight wins coming in three different countries in consecutive years. In 2003, he won the GI Pattison Canadian International, followed by the G1 Hong Kong Vase and G1 Dubai Sheema Classic of 2005, earning just shy of £2-million in prize-money.
The sire of G1 Racing Post Trophy winner Elm Park (GB), he started his stud career at the National Stud and after five years in Newmarket was relocated to Mickley Stud in Shropshire.
Andrew Christou commented, “Phoenix Reach has settled in at Winterbeck Manor Stud and is doing really well. It is so nice to be able to see him back home and he will hopefully have a few good years of covering.”
