As is customary at this time of the season, Ballydoyle's better prospects are often short of a peak and last year's G1 Epsom Derby runner-up US Army Ranger (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) proved no exception as he plugged on into third behind Air Pilot (GB) (Zamindar). That veteran retains a love of the sport and of travelling overseas, as he proved with prior wins in the G3 International S. at The Curragh in June 2015 and in last year's G3 La Coupe at Chantilly. Following a break after a rare poor run when last of 10 in York's G3 Strensall S. in August, the bay moved with all his old assurance in rear and when asked to chase down the habitual leader Success Days (Ire) (Jeremy) gave generously to overwhelm him in the final 50 yards.
Pedigree Notes…
