Plenty of Mischief in Spinaway

The GI Spinaway S. attracted a field of seven juvenile fillies and Sunday's seven-furlong event at Saratoga features four daughters of Spendthrift's Into Mischief. The 8-5 morning-line favorite is Frank's Rockette (Into Mischief), who was tabbed a 'TDN Rising Star' following an 8 3/4-length debut romp going five furlongs at Churchill Downs June 21. The Bill Mott trainee overcame a traffic-plagued trip to finish second behind the re-opposing Perfect Alibi (Sky Mesa) as the 3-5 favorite in the 6 1/2-furlong GII Adirondack S. last time out Aug. 4.

Risky Mischief (Into Mischief) earned her own 'TDN Rising Star' tag with a front-running 7 1/2-length drubbing of fellow New York-breds in her six-furlong debut July 31. She is 6-1 on the morning line for trainer Jeremiah Englehart.

Don Chatlos sends out OXO Equine's Mundaye Call (Into Mischief). The $950,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling contested the pace, but was overtaken late while runner-up in her six-furlong debut Aug. 11. Rounding out the Into Mischief Spinaway quartet is Klaravich Stables' Figure of Speech, who scored by 5 1/2 lengths despite running greenly in her 5 1/2-furlong debut July 31.

Tracy Farmer's Perfect Alibi opened her career with a 9 1/2-length victory at Churchill Downs May 16. She was runner-up after a wide trip in the June 6 Astoria S. at Belmont before her Adirondack victory.

“I think she's bigger and stronger now than she was a few weeks ago, so she's definitely training and moving forward,” trainer Mark Casse said of the 7-2 shot. “She's doing as well, if not better than she was, heading into the Adirondack, so I expect her to run back. I think the seven furlongs will be a plus.”
