The Plus 10 bonus scheme achieved a milestone on Friday when it hit £10-million in total payouts. That occured when
Jousi (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), trained by Hugo Palmer for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, won the opening race at Ascot, a fillies' novice stakes. Dubawi has sired the most Plus 10 bonus winners of any sire to date.
The Plus 10 bonus of £10,000/€12,000 has now been paid out 1,000 times in qualifying 2- and 3-year-old races in Britain and Ireland. The scheme began in 2015 as a £5.5-million scheme, but support has seen it grow and it will receive a further boost of £300,000 next year. The additional funds, made possible by Levy revenue, will be used to apply £10,000 bonuses to all Class 5 maiden races over one mile three furlongs. This change will see the scheme expand to include almost 30 additional races annually and enhance opportunities for colts in the scheme.
