Fourth behind the eventual G1 1000 Guineas third Daban (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}) when one of the leading fancies for the G3 Nell Gwyn S. over this trip at Newmarket last time Apr. 19, Pamplemousse returned home to enjoy an easier task for the domestically dominant Andre Fabre stable. Having earned TDN Rising Star status with an impressive debut win over 6 1/2 furlongs on the Polytrack here Apr. 4, the bay again demonstrated that natural pace by tanking her way to the front from the outset. Settling there and cruising around in the hands of Pierre-Charles Boudot, she was apparently running out of stamina late on which may have flattered Speed As. “I have been trying to figure out what her best trip is and after today I am not certain she will stay much further, so I have no precise plans for her future,” Fabre said.
The unraced Acatama is also the dam of the G1 Prix Jean Romanet and G1 Premio Lydia Tesio heroine Odeliz, who was also a keen-going type who managed to upstage a trio of group 1 winners in Avenir Certain (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}), We Are (Ire) (Dansili {GB}) and Ribbons (GB) (Manduro {Ger}) in the former contest. Acatama is a half to three stakes winners, most notably the GI John C Mabee H. and GI Del Mar
Oaks scorer Amorama (Fr) (Sri Pekan) who in turn is the dam of the G2 Prix Hocquart winner Ampere (Fr) (Galileo {Ire}). The third dam Triple Couronne is a full-sister to the outstanding, nine times group 1-winning champion and Irish 2000 Guineas heroine Triptych and the G3 Prix Vanteaux-winning and multiple stakes-producing Barger. She is also a half-sister to Trevilla (Lyphard), who produced the G1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Treble to a mating with Riverman and that top-class performers full-sister Trevillari. The latter is the dam of the GISP Tsigane (Fr) (Anabaa) and his full-sibling Trevise (Fr), later responsible for one of France's all-time greats in the dual G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}). Acatama also has a 2-year-old colt by Dawn Approach (Ire) named Nation's History (Fr) and a yearling colt by Exceed and Excel (Aus).
