PORTCULLIS (GB) (Frankel {GB}) earned TDN Rising Star status in Newmarket's Wood Ditton last month and goes steady for now with Royal Ascot looming. John and Thady Gosden have opted to send The King and The Queen's homebred son of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Castle Lady (Shamardal) to the race they used for their eventual Lockinge hero Lead Artist and have won on the last three occasions, including with two colts they subsequently pitched into Group 1 company.

MRAIR (IRE) (Mehmas {Ire}) is a significant newcomer for Victorious Forever and the George Scott stable, having fetched £880,000 when topping last month's Goffs Breeze Up. Among her rivals is Godolphin's Al Hudaiba (GB) (Dark Angel {Ire}), a Charlie Appleby-trained son of their ultimately disappointing A'Shaari (Dubawi), a full-sister to Wuheida who won on debut here to earn TDN Rising Star status.

EXTREMELY ZAIN (FR) (Hello Youmzain {Fr}) created a major impression with a seven-length success on debut at Newcastle in December, hinting freakish ability and is back with a St James's Palace Stakes entry in the balance. William Haggas decides to race Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum's relative of Lush Lashes (Galileo) under a penalty, with Al Shaqab's newcomer Petworth (Ger) (Frankel {GB}) one of several able to receive seven pounds. Trained by Andrew Balding, the €400,000 Arqana Deauville August purchase is a son of the impressive Preis der Diana heroine Palmas (Lord Of England) so will probably find this trip a bare minimum.
