Roger Varian is hoping Postponed (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) can make it three runs, three wins for the Newmarket trainer when he lines up next in the G1 Coronation Cup on Epsom Derby day, June 4. Varian inherited the 5-year-old last autumn following Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's split with Luca Cumani and he commented, “He's come home from Dubai in great shape and it's likely his next race will be in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, all being well.” Though thrilled to be given an opportunity to train a horse like Postponed, Varian is mindful of the success Cumani had with the horse and of his own responsibility to maintain the excellent progression that Cumani had nurtured. “There is a bit of pressure when you take over a horse like him, but he's won two races in Dubai for us already, including a Sheema Classic. You can only train them as you find them but obviously Luca had done an extremely good job with him.”
