Pour Moi's Only Mine Emphatic Winner of the Lacken

Only Mine | Racing Post

Largely ignored at 16-1 despite her win in the Listed Bosra Sham S. at Newmarket in October, Only Mine who had been third to Washington DC in the Listed Power S. over this six-furlong trip at Navan last time May 15 took a step forward to put that rival in his place in this warm-up for the G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot June 17. Genuine and consistent during a busy 2-year-old campaign, the bay had finished runner-up over this trip in the G3 Grangecon Stud S. at The Curragh in June and in the G3 Firth of Clyde S. at Ayr in September either side of an eighth-place finish in the G2 Debutante S. trying an extra furlong at the former venue in August. Signing off with an aggressive display in the Bosra Sham back at this distance, she was ninth attempting seven furlongs once more in the G3 Nell Gwyn S. on her 3-year-old bow back at Newmarket Apr. 12 prior to her latest third in the Power S. Second early under Gary Carroll, Only Mine worked her way to the lead with over two furlongs remaining and after seeing off Aclaim kept stretching her advantage so that she was beyond recall once Washington DC found his stride. “It was no surprise to me–I always believed she was a group filly,” trainer Joseph Murphy said. “The little ease in the ground helped her a lot and she worked very well during the week. She may run in the [G3] Ballyogan S. at the Curragh on Saturday. The way she looked after the race, she could run again tomorrow. She will probably go to France later in the year and the [G1] Prix Maurice de Gheest [at Deauville Aug. 7] is a race that could suit her.” Click for the Racing Post result or the free Equineline.com catalogue-style pedigree.
