Pricey Into Mischief Filly Scores Front-Running Graduation

Into Mischief | Lee Thomas

6th-Del Mar, $52,702, Msw, 11-16, 2yo, f, 6 1/2f, 1:17.57, ft.

MUNDAYE CALL (f, 2, Into Mischief–Reve d'Amour, by Warrior's Reward) missed by just a head in her Saratoga unveiling Aug. 11, giving her connections enough confidence to send her to that venue's GI Spinaway S. next out Sept. 1, where she led early before fading to seventh. Favored at 6-5 to improve here, the blaze-faced bay sped straight to the front from her rail draw and clicked off an opening quarter in :22.65. Putting up a half in :45.74, the $950,000 FTSAUG buy charged clear in the lane for a never-in-doubt 3 1/4-length success. It was the first victory for Don Chatlos since going back out on his own in June after serving as assistant to Jerry Hollendorfer. Mundaye Call's unraced dam Reve D'Amour is a daughter of MGSW & G1SP Smolensk (Danzig), who also produced GSW & GISP sire Can the Man (Into Mischief). The winner is the second foal out of the 7-year-old mare, who has since produced a yearling filly by Malibu Moon and a weanling filly by Strong Mandate. She was bred back to Into Mischif. This is also the family of GSW & MGISP Better Than Honour (Deputy Minister), dam of GI Belmont S. winners Jazil (Seeking the Gold) and champion filly Rags to Riches (A.P. Indy); and Grade/Group I winners Streaming (Smart Strike) and Thewayyouare (Kingmambo). Sales history: $950,000 Ylg '18 FTSAUG. LifetimeRecord: 3-1-1-0, $54,450.
