Prince A A Faisal, who campaigned Make Believe (GB) (Makfi {GB}) to wins in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and the G1 Prix de la Foret, will support the Ballylinch resident with his best mares in 2017 in his second year at stud. Among the six mares from Prince Faisal's boutique Nawara Stud committed to Make Believe are Canadian champion 2-year-old filly Spring In The Air (Spring At Last). Nawara purchased Spring In The Air, winner of the GI Darley Alcibiades, for $1.65-million in foal to War Front at Keeneland November in 2015, and the mare is currently back in foal to War Front.
Also traveling to Ireland from the U.S. to visit Make Believe will be Affectionately (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), a daughter of Prince Faisal's great producer Rafha (GB) (Kris {GB}). Rafha is the dam of sires Invincible Spirit (Ire) and Kodiac (GB), who both raced as homebreds for Prince Faisal, as well as the second dam of G1 Gran Criterium winner Nayarra (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}) and G3 Silver Flash S. winner Wonderfully (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Affectionately has a 2-year-old colt by Mizzen Mast and a yearling colt by Bodemeister, and is in foal to Distorted Humor.
Prince Faisal's advisor Ted Voute said, “I can only reaffirm Prince Faisal's determination to support Make Believe by sending a substantial number of his mares to him both last year and this. He kept a third of Make Believe and has retained breeding rights in Invincible Spirit, Kodiac, Belardo, etc.”
Indeed, Prince Faisal will breed four to Kodiac this year, two to G1 Dewhurst S. and G1 Lockinge S. winner Belardo (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) and one to Invincible Spirit.
Also among Prince Faisal's broodmare band is Nayarra, who returns to Europe in foal to Empire Maker and will visit Frankel (GB) this year. Silver Cloud (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), an unraced granddaughter of triple German Group 1 winner Albanova (GB) (Alzao), visits Gleneagles (Ire) in her first season at stud.
