Charlie Fellowes's Prince of Arran (GB) (Shirroco {Ger}) has earned a spot in the G1 Melbourne Cup on Nov. 5 after Racing Victoria Chief Handicapper Greg Carpenter penalized him one kilo for his victory in Wednesday's G3 Geelong Cup. That moves the 6-year-old from 37th in the standings to 23rd, with a maximum 24 allowed to line up in the 3200 metre Flemington showpiece. Prince of Arran was third in last year's Cup after winning the G3 Lexus S. three days earlier.
