PRIX DE DIANE VICTRESS VALYRA EUTHANIZED

His Highness The Aga Khan's G1 Prix de Diane victress Valyra (GB) (Azamour {Ire}–Valima {Fr}, by Linamix {Fr}) has been euthanized as a result of injuries incurred whilst training at Deauville Wednesday morning. The unbeaten distaffer, who also bagged minor sophomore events at Bordeaux-le-Bouscat and Chantilly this term, was being readied for a tilt at the Sept. 16 G1 Prix Vermeille at Longchamp, but fractured a femur that was found to be inoperable. “It is a terrible accident and a great loss for His Highness The Aga Khan and our stable,” commented trainer Jean-Claude Rouget. “We have lost a filly with true class, she was a very sound individual and a pleasure to train. Her full potential had yet to be realised, but there was no other option than to put down, her injury proving too severe.”
