Q Her In

Qemah | Racing Post

If Qemah (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) is in anything like the form she was when registering two top-level successes in 2016, she will be impossible to beat in Saturday's G3 Betfred 'Supports Jack Berry House' Chartwell Fillies' S. at Lingfield. Unpenalised despite her wins in the G1 Coronation S. at Royal Ascot in June and G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville the following month, Al Shaqab Racing's bay finished up with a slightly unlucky third in Leopardstown's G1 Matron S. in September. “I think her run in Ireland is best forgotten,” commented the operation's racing manager Harry Herbert. “She'd had a busy year, her coat was on the turn and she looked a little bit 'shelly'. She's done well over the winter and we expect her to have another good year. She's a really good filly, very classy and with an excellent turn of foot, like we saw in the Coronation S. at Ascot. Because we know she likes it there, we're thinking of the [G1] Queen Anne [at Royal Ascot June 20] next month.” Chief rival could be Aida Fustoq's Mix and Mingle (Ire) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}), who scored in a handicap over this trip at Newmarket's Craven meeting last time on Apr. 20, which has been subsequently boosted. “Racing off level weights with the French filly makes it a pretty tough call, but we'll see what we can do,” trainer Chris Wall said. “I'm a bit disappointed the ground has gone good-to-soft in places. Good-to-firm would have suited us just fine. That's not to say she can't operate on slower ground, but fast ground is a big advantage to her. She goes there in good form and we're hoping for a good run from her.”
