Last year's GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Queen's Trust (GB) (Dansili {GB}) will make her third start of the season in the G1 Nassau S. at Goodwood on Aug. 3. The 'TDN Rising Star', a homebred for Cheveley Park Stud, has finished fourth in both starts this term, most recently a good showing when beaten two lengths by Highland Reel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G1 Prince of Wales's S. at Royal Ascot on June 21.
Chris Richardson, managing director of Cheveley Park Stud, said, “She's in good form and, all being well, she's heading for the Nassau at Goodwood. Again, she wasn't quickly away at Ascot and ended up too far back before coming with a rattling run. It is frustrating, but hopefully she'll get it right one of these days.”
Richardson also provided updates on a couple of Cheveley Park luminaries from last year who will make belated returns this year. Persuasive (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), winner of last year's Listed Sandringham H. at Royal Ascot at the G3 Atalanta S., could look to build on her second-place finish in last year's G1 Matron S. in September.
“Persuasive is fine and we've just been taking our time and waiting on the ground for her,” Richardson said. “We haven't really made any plans. I suppose the Matron would be the race to aim for again, but she'd need a run somewhere beforehand.”
Last year's G3 Sovereign S. winner Zonderland (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) could make his return in the G2 Celebration Mile at Glorious Goodwood, where he was last seen finishing second last year.
“Goodwood is hopefully Zonderland's target,” Richardson said. “We have the option of running in either the Celebration Mile or the Sussex S. He likes top of the ground and ran well at Goodwood last year. He unfortunately twisted a joint just before the Lockinge, so we had to back off him for a while, but he's back again now and we're looking forward to getting him back on track.”
