Champion Queena (Mr. Prospector–Too Chic, by Blushing Groom {Fr}) had to be euthanized due to complications from colic, it was revealed yesterday. The 21-year-old mare was at Helen AlexanderÃs Middlebrook Farm, and has been buried at Middlebrook near her dam. Bred and raced by Emory Hamilton, Queena won 10 of her 17 career starts for trainer Shug McGaughey III, including the GI Maskette S., GI Ruffian H. and GI Ballerina S. She was named the champion older mare of 1991.
