R.A.C.E. Online Auction Fundraiser Begins May 26

The R.A.C.E. Fund will kick off its 2017 fund drive with an online auction on eBay beginning May 26 at 8 p.m. ET and running through June 2 to help raise funds for racehorse retirement and recure.

Items to be auctioned off include halters from Horse of the Year California Chrome, Funny Cide, Serena's Song, Bodemeister and Groupie Doll; horseshoes worn by First Samurai, Tapizar and Karatontie (donated by Claiborne and Gainesway); and first and second edition Secretariat bobbleheads. Other items to be auctioned off include pictures by Hall of Famer Calvin Borel of Street Sense and Rachel Alexandra and a signed picture by jockey Mike Smith winning the 2016 GI Breeders' Cup Classic on Arrogate. All proceeds will be used to help Thoroughbred racehorses in need of retirement and rescue from slaughter.

Additionally, a race named in honor of the R.A.C.E. Fund will be staged at Penn National Race Course on June 3, the same day as the running of the track's marquee and richest event, the $500,000 GIII Penn Mile S. for sophomores at a mile on the turf. R.A.C.E., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit and TAA-accredited organization, will also have a table at the track that day.

Additional information on the R.A.C.E. Fund may be obtained at www.racefund.org. Questions may be directed to info@racefund.org.
