Magic Millions hosted the one day Perth Winter Sale at Belmont Racecourse on Sunday with the sale made up of yearlings, racehorses, broodmares and weanlings. It was the racehorse section that provided the sale topper when Dark Alert (Aus) (Testa Rossa {Aus}), offered as lot 103 was knocked down to Benjamin Miller for A$70,000. The gelding is already an eight-time winner of almost A$500,000 in prize-money and was offered by Peters Investments who provided the top ten priced lots in the racehorse section. These also included lot 101 Battle Hero (Aus) (Stratum {Aus}), another prolific winner who numbered the G3 Roma Cup among his victories. He was purchased by Black Type Bloodstock for A$60,000. Leading the way in the weanling section was lot 194 a daughter of exciting young Hunter Valley freshman sire Deep Field (Aus) who sold to Bob Dawson for A$40,000. The chestnut filly, offered by Lynward Park Stud is the third foal of the Tiger Hill (Ire) mare Cattalo (Aus), from the family of G1 Caulfield Cup winner Mannerism (Aus) (Amyntor {Fr}). 44 lots were offered in the opening yearling section and topping this session was lot 35 a son of Your Song (Aus) who went the way of G L & A D Williams for A$35,000. Offered by the Western Breeders Alliance the colt is out of an unraced half-sister to G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner Atlante (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}). Next best was lot 49 an already gelded son of Patronize (Aus) who was purchased by Paul Taylor for A$21,000. At the end of the day's trade 146 of the 170 offered horses changed hands at a healthy 85% clearance rate. Those sold contributed to an aggregate of A$994,000 and an average of A$6,808.
