GI Kentucky Oaks winner Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d'Oro) has been transferred to the barn of trainer Steve Asmussen, according to Daily Racing Form. The move comes a day after it was announced that Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables had purchased the sophomore filly from owner/breeder Dolphus Morrison and partner Michael Lauffer. Hal Wiggins previously trained the filly. Asmussen, who trained two-time Horse of the Year Curlin (Smart Strike) for Jackson, did not rule out a start in the May 16 GI Preakness S. for Rachel Alexandra. “Her ability allows for a tremendous number of options,” Asmussen told the Form. He added the filly would work Sunday or Monday. Rachel Alexandra would have to be supplemented to the Triple Crown for $100,000 in order to face the boys in the Preakness
