'Ready' for Two Turns?

Recruiting Ready | Jim McCue

A field of eight juveniles will negotiate two turns beneath the Twin Spires in Saturday's GIII Iroquois S., a “Win and You're In” event for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile. The Iroquois is the first scoring race on the 2016-17 Road to the GI Kentucky Derby.

'TDN Rising Star' Recruiting Ready (Algorithms), caught in the final furlong after setting a fast pace in Churchill's GIII Bashford Manor S. July 2, stretches to a route for the first time here. The Sagamore Farm colorbearer posted a nearly identical performance in the GII Saratoga Special S. Aug. 14, but was also disqualified from second and placed fourth for interference on the far turn.

Thirstforlife (Stay Thirsty) earned his 'TDN Rising Star' badge in a five-furlong local maiden win June 4. He returns to the Bluegrass after a third-place finish behind subsequent GISW Klimt (Quality Road) in the GII Best Pal S. at Del Mar Aug. 13.

Not This Time (Giant's Causeway), a half-brother to GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile hero Liam's Map (Unbridled's Song), heads straight to the deep end off a powerful double-digit maiden win going a mile at second asking at Ellis Aug. 12.
