Recruiting Ready, a dominant debut winner last spring to earn 'TDN Rising Star' status, had mostly disappointed since then, but got back on track in a Laurel optional claimer last out and put forth his best performance to date with a frontrunning romp in Thursday's Bachelor S. at Oaklawn. The $110,000 Keeneland September buy gave up clear stretch leads when second in both the GIII Bashford Manor S. and GII Saratoga Special S. last summer and finished third in both the GIII Iroquois S. and Buffalo Man S. later in the year before tiring to 10th in the Mucho Macho Man S. Jan. 7 at Gulfstream.

Showing more late punch to score at Laurel Mar. 10, the bay was let go as the 2-1 second choice in the Bachelor and quickly established command from his rail draw. Clicking off a sharp :21.60 quarter, Recruiting Ready inched away from his pursuers heading into the stretch and never came under any serious pressure from there, widening steadily to romp by six lengths and become the second stakes winner for his sophomore sire. Conquest Wildcat completed the exacta.

The winner's second dam, MGSW Trip (Lord at War {Arg}), is also the second dam of Sonic Mule (Distorted Humor), who bested Recruiting Ready in the Mucho Macho Man and Buffalo Man. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
