Reflection To Aim For July Cup

Karl Burke has announced a change of plan for his star sprinter Quiet Reflection (GB) (Showcasing {GB}). The filly proved herself one of Europe's best sprinters with her victory in the G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot following which her trainer suggested a break, with the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup in September as a possible comeback. However the G1 Darley July Cup (July 9) at Newmarket is now firmly on the agenda, the filly having recovered so well from Ascot. “She has come out of the race at Ascot in great form and is better than I thought she would be. We made the entry for the July Cup and we haven't got much choice but to take on her elders,” said Burke of the filly he owns in partnership with Hubert Stecker and the Ontoawinner Syndicate. “She had her first canter on Friday and did a nice seven furlongs on Saturday morning. She looks fantastic and has put all her weight back on.” Quiet Reflection has only been beaten once in seven outings and despite only having had three runs this year Burke felt that she may benefit from some downtime with a view to major autumn targets. “I was just thinking aloud after her win at Ascot as she had been on the go for a long time as we prepared her for her first run in France from December, but she has just continued to thrive. If she stays in the same shape she is now then she will go for the July Cup,” confirmed Burke.
