Retirement Claims For Richard Hills

Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's long-standing retained rider Richard Hills could be set to retire, if a report in the UAE-based newspaper Khaleej Times is to be believed. Published on Saturday, the article claims that the 49-year-old will quit the saddle at the close of the current World Cup festival. On the website of the publication, it was said that Ali Al Muhairi, UAE racing manager of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, had announced that Hills had submitted an “official request to end his racing career as a rider.” Hills, son of the legendary trainer Barry, who also retired last year, has ridden five British Classic winners in the Shadwell silks and 29 Group 1 races in total.
