BENDABLE (f, 3, Horse Greeley–Bend {MSP, $144,946}, by Arch) was dismissed at 14-1 for her local unveiling June 3 despite being a full-sister to the good sprinter Clearly Now, MGSW & GISP, $1,089,794, but belied her backing to air by 3 3/4 lengths and earn an 87 Beyer Speed Figure. Looking to clear her next condition against a field she looked on paper like she should handle, the 1-5 chalk broke well from her rail draw to attend a three-way pace on the inside through splits of :21.24 and :44.34. Spurting clear at the top of the straight, the homebred was ridden out by Flavien Prat to go two-for-two by 2 1/4 lengths. Sweet Halory (Hold Me Back), off since a successful Del Mar unveiling last November, completed the exacta. “She's a fast filly,” Hall of Fame conditioner Richard Mandella said of the winner. “The nice thing about today is that she was in control and within herself. She was able to sit while getting pressured from the outside and it looked like Flavien had quite a bit under him. She was within herself and she didn't get rank or get excited. Like I say, she's fast.” Bendable has an unraced 2-year-old half-brother named Hard Work (Broken Vow) who sold for $220,000 at last year's Keeneland September sale. Her dam produced a War Front filly earlier this term. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $68,400. Click for the Equibase.com chart\fs21f1 or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
