'Rising Star' Carries Perfect Record into Edgewood

Stallionaire Enterprises' Stallion Heiress (Exchange Rate) scorched the turf in New Orleans this winter, winning her first three starts in wire-to-wire fashion by a combined 15 1/4 lengths and earning 'TDN Rising Star' honors after the middle of those victories–a 7 3/4-length romp in a Feb. 11 overnight stakes event. The dark bay gets the first significant class test of her young career Friday in the GIII Edgewood S. at Churchill Downs and will likely try to wire the field once again.

Her toughest challenge could come from the pair of fellow 'Rising Star' Proctor's Ledge (Ghostzapper) and John Oxley's Dream Dancing (Tapit), third and fourth, respectively, in a salty renewal of the GIII Appalachian S. at Keeneland Apr. 13. The former found herself stymied in traffic before altering out to close strongly, while the latter was making similar late headway after racing in last early behind moderate fractions. Dream Dancing previously annexed the GIII Herecomesthebride S. at Gulfstream Mar. 4. India Mantuana (Wilburn) exits a troubled fifth-place finish in the Herecomesthebride and could apply some early pressure to Stallion Heiress.

The race also features a pair of invaders from Southern California in Reddam Racing's maiden You Missed It (Lookin At Lucky) and Glen Hill Farm's Emphatically (Scat Daddy), second and third, respectively, in Santa Anita's GIII Providencia S. Apr. 8.
