TAKE THESE CHAINS (IRE) (f, 3, Fastnet Rock {Aus)–Take the Ribbon {GSW & GISP, $372,102}, by Chester House) overcame a troubled trip to impressively take her debut Mar. 27 on the Gulfstream lawn and earn 'TDN Rising Star' status along the way. Making her first start since then at a nickel under 7-5, the bay sophomore was left at the start, spotting the rest of the field several lengths, and settled in second-last as even-money choice Half Irish (Lonhro {Aus}) sprinted clear through splits of :23.84 and :47.17. Inching closer going into the far bend as the chalk's cushion started to diminish, Take These Chains split horses adeptly soon after turning for home and exploded down the center of the course to inhale the pacesetter just outside the sixteenth pole and pull clear, triumphing by 1 1/2 lengths in another impressive effort. Almina (Macho Uno), a 26-1 longshot, nailed her favored stablemate for the place. The winner is a half to Bookrunner (Tiznow), G1SP-Ity, $149,856. Her dam captured the GIII Churchill Distaff Turf Mile S. in 2007 and was runner-up in the GI Garden City Breeders' Cup S. in 2006 over this course. She most recently produced a yearling filly by Dansili (GB) Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $70,200. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
