The Delaware Racing Commission has agreed to reduce the suspension handed down to jockey Jeremy Rose for improper use of the whip from 180 to 90 days, Daily Racing Form reports. He will also be fined $5,000 and will continue in an anger management program through Nov. 11, the end of the meet at Delaware Park. Rose, who guided Afleet Alex to wins in the GI Preakness S. and GI Belmont S. in 2005, was suspended June 25 after striking his mount on the left side of her face in the waning strides of a six-furlong race. While the filly was ultimately not seriously injured, stewards deemed the action worthy of a six-month ban. Rose, the nation's Eclipse Award-winning apprentice in 2001, will be able to return to the saddle Sept. 23.
