Royal Ascot to Observe Brief Silence

There will be a minute of silence after the arrival of Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Party in the parade ring at Royal Ascot Tuesday after the recent tragic events across Britain, the racecourse announced Monday. Ascot Racecourse will donate £100,000 to the British Red Cross UK Solidarity and London Fire Relief Funds, as well as local charities that support those affected. There will also be exit collections during the five-day Royal Meeting allowing racegoers to contribute.

“We have all been deeply saddened by recent tragic events around the country,” said Johnny Weatherby, Chairman of Ascot Racecourse. “At the beginning of this important week for racing, we at Ascot Racecourse wish to pay our respects to the victims and offer support to the families who have been so terribly affected.”
