Royal Returns

Trainer Andre Fabre | Racing Post

Saturday's G3 Prix du Palais-Royal, which has been switched from Maisons-Laffitte to Deauville with the wet spell inflicting its damage, witnesses the comeback of the classy Andre Fabre duo of Territories (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and Esoterique (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), who are both forced to race under penalties as a result of their Group 1-winning exploits last season. While the former captured the G1 Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly in July, Esoterique had his measure when they filled the first two positions in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois here in August before following up in the G1 Sun Chariot S. at Newmarket in October. Both ended the last campaigns with solid out-of-the-frame efforts, with Territories only seventh in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. at Ascot in October and Esoterique signing off with a fourth in the G1 Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin in December. Getting significant weight from his elders is the Wertheimers's Attendu (Fr) (Acclamation {GB}), who was a latest ninth in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains over a mile here May 15 but is back at the trip over which he captured Longchamp's G3 Prix la Rochette in September and finished third in November's G1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud.
