Trainer Todd Pletcher confirmed Monday morning that WinStar homebred Rule (c, 3, Roman Ruler) would not compete in Saturday's GI Kentucky Derby. Pletcher said nothing was physically wrong with the colt, but that his most recent training hadn't met with expectations. He said the GI Preakness S. remains a possibility. The GIII Delta Jackpot and GIII Sam F. Davis hero sat in third on the graded earnings list, and his defection now opens the door for Robert LaPenta's Jackson Bend (c, 3, Hear No Evil) to line up in the Derby. More to come…
