Lankan Rupee (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}), Australian Horse of the Year during the 2014-2015 season, as well as champion sprinter and older horse that same year, is on the recovery trail and trainer Mick Price is hopeful the five-time Group 1 winner could return in time for the G1 Darley Classic S. Nov. 5, racenet.com reported Monday. Last seen taking third in the G2 Schillaci S. at Caulfield in October of 2015, Lankan Rupee is recovering from hock surgery.

“We're just giving him a month on green grass now because he's been boxed and doing all that rehab,” Price told radio station RSN Monday. “I'm not sure if we can make the Schillaci [Oct. 6] into the Darley [Nov. 5], or whether he goes into the Darley first-up. But he's got about three more weeks in the paddock and then we'll start a longer slower, careful prep. If he gets one run or two runs [this spring] good. If not, he'll be cherry ripe for the autumn, hopefully.”
