Cal-bred speedster Sircat Sally (Surf Cat) faces possibly her toughest test to date as she looks to run her unblemished record to eight in Del Mar's GII San Clemente H. Sunday. The Joe Turner homebred was last seen annexing Santa Anita's nine-panel GII Honeymoon S. June 17, but is probably better suited to this one-mile distance. Among her challengers is New York invader Lull (War Front), who was beaten a nose by a next-out winner in Belmont's Soaring Softly S. May 20. She was a decent fourth after setting a solid pace in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf out West last November, and her trainer Christophe Clement has had success in the past shipping to Southern California. Noted and Quoted (The Factor) annexed last October's GI Chandelier S. on the Santa Anita main track, but has gone winless in four subsequent efforts, most recently when eighth in the GII Summertime Oaks June 17. This will be the grey's first turf start for a barn that rarely runs horses on the infield. Many of her promising young sire's progeny have taken to the lawn, however, and if a best-of-nine breeze on this course July 17 is any indication, she might like it, too. Several other runners have shown speed to keep Sircat Sally honest. Kenda (Bodemeister) bested two of these foes in box-to-wire fashion in the June 11 Special Goddess S. down the hill. Blame It On Alphie (Blame) was never headed in an Arcadia optional claimer going this trip. Enthrall (Bernardini) is an intriguing fresh face. She was transferred by her owner from Devin Henri-Francois to Brendan Walsh off a two-length score in a Chantilly conditions race June 23 (video replay).
