Zayat Stables' Mushka (Empire Maker), who topped Fasig-Tipton's 2006 Saratoga Sale at $1.6 million, closed from the back of the pack take yesterday's GII Demoiselle S. at the Big A by an impressive 4 1/2 lengths. Coming off a maiden win at Belmont, she was sent off at 4-1 in her stakes bow. Jockey John Velazquez got the filly in gear on the far turn and she collared 5-2 chalk Elusive Lady (Van Nistelrooy) in the stretch and drew clear. “Once she gets serious, she gets serious,” Velazquez said.
