Looking for a classic winner, Hajime Satomi went higher than he thought he would have to in order to secure a stylish dark bay son of Deep Impact (Jpn) out of GIIᅠMonmouth Breeders' Cup Oaks winner Magic Storm (Storm Cat), paying ᆬ200 million ($1,960,785) in the opening hour of the Japan Racing Horse Association select sale. Satomi, founder of entertainment equipment manufacturer Sammy Corp., also owns the colt's full brother, multiple GIII-placed Satono Aladdin (Jpn). “My hope for this colt is not just to see him in the field of a classic race, but to win a classic race,” Satomi said. Riichi Kondo was the underbidder.
