Scottish Settling In Well

Scottish | Racing Post

Charlie Appleby nominated Scottish (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) for a trip to Australia immediately after he won the Listed Strensall S. at York in August and the 4-year-old has settled into his new routine down under ahead of his first major assignment in the G1 Caulfield Cup Oct. 15. Appleby's assistant James Ferguson accompanied Godolphin's team of horses on the arduous journey to Australia and he told racing.com, “It is a long flight for these horses but they are all in good shape. They had two easy days and then their first days of cantering today. They are fresh and well and have taken the travel well, we're really pleased.” Though a 4-year-old Scottish is still quite unexposed and he has some smart form lines to his credit, notably a defeat of the subsequent Group 1 placed Mutakayyef (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and recent Australian import Exoshperic (GB) (Beat Hollow {GB}) in a Listed race at Ayr last season. “We really like Scottish, Mikey Ennis, who rides him every day at home, has come over with him and he couldn't be happier. He'll do a bit more towards the end of the week and early next week. We're not sure when Charlie will be here as the Caulfield Cup clashes with Champions Day at home so it's touch and go,” added Ferguson.
