Fastnet Rock (Aus) (Danehill) earned his second Australian champion sire title when the 2014/15 season drew to a close in that country Saturday. The Coolmore resident's progeny earned A$10,303,516 over the year, with 146 winners–and 217 wins–from 209 starters. His 2014/15 stakes winners included Group 1 winners First Seal (Aus), Magicool (Aus) and Amicus (Aus).
Second on the general sire table was another son of Danehill, Darley's Exceed and Excel (Aus), whose progeny earned A$9,020,801. Exceed and Excel was also the country's leading 2-year-old sire. Sebring (Aus) (More Than Ready), Encosta de Lago (Aus) (Fairy King) and Redoute's Choice (Aus) (Danehill) rounded out the general sire table.
Fastnet Rock's son Hinchinbrook (Aus) was leading first-season sire, making a late move to top the early leader, Arrowfield's late Beneteau (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}), by A$244,310. Star Witness (Aus) (Starcraft {NZ}) was third on the first-season sire table.
Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado {Ire}), sire of this year's G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver (Aus), was leading second-season sire with A$4,646,275 in progeny earnings. Last year's champion first-season sire I Am Invincible (Aus) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) checked in second by progeny earnings but was well clear by winners and wins, with 59 and 98.
Danehill was the clear leader among broodmare sires, his daughters having produced the earners of A$16,239,487. Zabeel (NZ) (Sir Tristram {Ire}) was second in that category with A$11,839.
