Patricia Generazio's G1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint contender Pure Sensation (Zensational), third in the GI Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint this November, jogged over the all-weather at Sha Tin under regular exercise rider Rudy Nerbonne Saturday. Earlier in the week, the MGSW and hero of the GIII Jaipur Invitational S., as well as the GIII Parx Dash S. this term, expressed lameness after an abscess was discovered in his left hind that ruled him out of training on Thursday. The Hong Kong Jockey Club reported Pure Sensation was lame in his left fore Friday, that kept him from the track that day too, and he underwent a veterinary inspection Saturday morning.
“The Stewards have been advised by Dr. Peter Curl, Executive Manager, Veterinary Regulation, that Pure Sensation, trained by Christophe Clement and previously reported to have lameness issues, underwent a routine pre-race veterinary inspection this morning in order to assess the horse's suitability to race,” said Hong Kong Jockey Club Chief Stipendiary Steward Kim Kelly. “Dr. Curl advised that whilst the horse has improved, it remains lame in the left front foot. Purse Sensation will continue to be monitored with a final decision on its suitability to race likely to be made tomorrow [Sunday] morning.”
