Serious Speed (Aus) (Royal Academy) fetched A$900,000 when knocked down to Patinack Farm. Offered as part of the disperal of Harry Perks' Toorak Park, the five-year-old is in foal to Al Maher (Aus). Trained by Leon McDonald in Adelaide, she earned almost A$1 million on the track with victories including the Group 1 Thousand Guineas. Widden Stud, which has enjoyed a close association with Perks over many years, sent the Toorak Park draft into the ring. Coincidentally, Perks was part-owner and breeder of Devil Moon (Aus) (King Cugat), the A$775,000 sale topper when offered by Widden during session one last year.
