Shah Weighing Options for Dortmund

'TDN Rising Star' Dortmund (Big Brown), runner-up behind California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) with a 110 Beyer Speed Figure in the GI Awesome Again S. going 1 1/8 miles Oct. 1, will make his next start in either the GI Breeders' Cup Classic or GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.

“Based on how he works in the next few weeks, we will make a final decision,” owner Kaleem Shah confirmed. “Perhaps the Dirt Mile.”

Dortmund, winner of Santa Anita's Big Bear S. going a mile last October, has chased home California Chrome in all three of his trips to the post in 2016, including a well-beaten third in the GI TVG Pacific Classic at Del Mar Aug. 20. The two-time Grade I winner is trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert.
