Shared Belief Tops First Longines Rankings

Shared Belief (Candy Ride {Arg}) has topped the first edition of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings of 2015 with a mark of 125 for his victory in the GI Santa Anita H. last weekend. 

Hong Kong Miler Able Friend (Aus) (Shamardal) sits second on the list with a rating of 124 for his win in the G1 Stewards Cup Jan. 25. The 6-year-old gelding is now riding a three-race win streak that includes the G1 Hong Kong Mile Dec. 14. Another Hong Kong flagbearer, Designs on Rome (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) sits a joint third with a mark of 123 for his win in the HKG3 Centenary Vase H. last month. He shares that rating with Australian sprinter Lankan Rupee (Aus) (Redoute’s Choice {Aus}), who won the G1 Lightning S. on seasonal debut last month. 

Horse of the Year California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) sits fourth on the list with a mark of 121 for his second to Shared Belief in the GII San Antonio S. Feb. 7, and last year’s Eclipse turf champion and older male Main Sequence (Aldebaran) is fifth with a rating of 120 earned in his seasonal debut–a win in the GII Mac Diarmida S. Feb. 21.
