Sierra Sunset Injured

Sierra Sunset (Bertrando) emerged from last weeken?s GII Rebel S. victory with a “small fracture line in his left fron ankle” and will be sidelined indefinitely, according to Daily Racing Form. Trainer Jeff Bonde told the publication that his charge would fly back to Northern California when an available flight emerges. “It doesn't require surgery,” Bonde told DRF. “He just needs time off.” Sierra Sunset, who finished second to Denis of Cork in the GIII Southwest S. Feb. 18 in his start prior to the Rebel, is expected to be out of action for at least three months. Bred in California by Pam and Martin Wygod, Sierra Sunset is raced by the partnership of Philip Lebherz, Al Mariani, George Schmitt and Carol Wirth Trust.
