Lokinforpursemonee missed by just a head when second to Pachi Cruze (Valid n Bold) while making his racetrack debut in the June 26 restricted Frost King S. The bay found himself at the back of the pack as Junket set splits of :23.07 and :46.82 with Hunts Bay (American Lion) and State of Honor applying moderate pressure. Shuffled back to last through the turn, he angled four deep leaving the bend and reached contention inside the final furlong to collar Junket late on.

“I probably got a little further back than I wanted, but I get on him a lot in the morning, I know him pretty well, and I know he has a pretty good turn of foot,” winning rider Gary Boulanger. “He showed a lot of character today. When I asked him, he was always there and he got the job done.”

Post-time favorite Arcen (Pioneerof the Nile) dropped jockey Jesse Campbell in the pre-race warm up, then blew the break and lost all chance.

Trainer John Ross purchased Lokinforpursemonee for $32,000 at the 2015 Canadian Premier Yearling Sale and the colt runs in the colors of Ross's J.R. Racing Stable.

“I eyeballed him at the sales here and he was a beautiful-looking animal. He's bred by Hill 'n' Dale and they produce a beautiful horse. He came to hand as a 2-year-old fairly early. He's a very smart horse, but what I really like about him is he's so willing.”

“You can put him in between, take him back, and do all the things you'd like a mature horse to do,” continued Ross. “He's found those things early and Gary did a tremendous job today. He got back into the pack a bit and Gary just relaxed and waited for an opening. When Gary pulled the trigger, the horse responded very well.”

Lokingforpursemonee is the first foal out of multiple stakes winner Anne's Purse. The mare produced a filly by Stormy Atlantic in 2015 and a colt by that Hill 'n' Dale stallion in 2016. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
